Tradition demands that the first born son of every Jewish family belongs to the priesthood and may only be redeemed through the donation of five shekels to the Temple.  In this composition, five modern Israeli shekels go bouncing into the Temple coffer.  Above, is the priestly breastplate, bearing the gems of the twelve tribes of Israel. The shekels are rendered in low fire enamel on Grey opal.  The breastplate uses gold leaf, in addition to low fire enamel and  sandblast etching.
