doors of the Aron Hakodesh are decorate with a design
of the twin column which flanked the entrance to the First
Temple in Jerusalem. They are depicted as being made up
of all the materials which God requested of the Israelites,
at Sinai, to build the original tabernacle, i.e. gold,
silver, copper, crimson and purple dyed yarns, red dyed
skin, lapis and acacia wood. The gems of the twelve tribes
of Israel are also symbolized. |
